Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before your first dig. Can't find your answer? We're always happy to help.

Planning Your Visit

Do I need to book ahead for open play?
Nope — just walk in! Open play never requires a reservation. We do recommend signing your waiver online before you arrive so you can head straight to the sand instead of filling out forms at the front desk.
What are your opening hours?
Monday–Thursday 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM, Friday & Saturday 10:00 AM – 9:00 PM, and Sunday 12:00 PM – 6:00 PM. Last entry is shortly before closing, so give yourselves enough time to play.
Where are you located, and is there parking?
We're at 301 Mt Hope Ave, Suite 1031A, Level 1, Rockaway, NJ 07866. There's free parking on site, and we're on the ground level so strollers roll straight in.
What ages is DigLand Kids for?
Open play is designed for children 10 and under. The sand arena works for confident walkers right through to big kids, and we have a gentler area for the littlest diggers.
Do parents stay with their children?
Yes — DigLand Kids is a parent-supervised play space, so a grown-up stays with their child throughout the visit. Two adults per family get in free, and there's comfortable seating right beside the sand.
How long can we stay?
Choose the session length that suits you: up to 30 minutes, 30–60 minutes, or a full 1–2 hours. If your little one isn't ready to leave, you can add another hour at the desk.

Pricing, Passes & Memberships

How much does open play cost?
For one child it's $12 for up to 30 minutes, $16 for 30–60 minutes, and $21 for 1–2 hours, with each extra 30 minutes at $5. Siblings are discounted — the second child is $10–$17 depending on session length, and it's a flat $10 each once you have two or more siblings.
Do adults have to pay?
Two adults per family are always free. Any additional adults are just $5 each.
Is it cheaper if we come often?
Much cheaper. Memberships start at $39/month for unlimited or discounted play, plus perks like party discounts and member-only hours. If you visit more than twice a month, a membership usually pays for itself.
Can I buy a gift for someone else?
Yes — gift cards can be bought online for any amount and are emailed straight to the recipient with a code. They can be used toward open play, birthday parties, or a membership.

Birthday Parties & Private Events

What's included in a birthday party package?
All packages include exclusive party time in the sand arena, a dedicated party host, and use of our party room. Our most popular package, Site Foreman, adds construction-themed decorations, pizza and juice for the kids, and a DigLand hard hat for every guest. The full details are on our parties page.
How far in advance should I book a party?
Weekend slots go quickly, so we recommend booking three to four weeks ahead. You can reserve your date online in a couple of minutes, and we'll confirm the details with you within 24 hours.
How do deposits and cancellations work?
Booking online pays for the party in full, so there is nothing left to settle on the day. $50 of that is the non-refundable deposit that reserves your date. If any damage to the facility is caused by your guests, the deposit is forfeited. Prefer to pay in person? Give us a ring and we will take the booking over the phone.
Can we bring our own cake and decorations?
Absolutely — bring your cake and any extra decorations you'd like. Just let us know about any allergies in your booking notes so we can plan around them, and our team will help you set up before your guests arrive.
Do you host school trips or private hire?
We do — school groups, daycare visits, and full-venue private hire are all available, and we'll tailor a rate to your group size. Get in touch through our contact page and tell us what you have in mind.

Safety & Our Sand

Is the sand safe and clean?
It is. We use non-toxic play sand that stays soft and dust-free, and it's raked, sifted, and refreshed as part of our daily cleaning routine. Our toys and surfaces are cleaned throughout the day too.
Do we need to sign a waiver?
Yes, every child needs a waiver signed by a parent or guardian before playing. You can sign it online in under a minute — it covers all the children in your family and lasts a full year.
What should we wear?
Comfortable clothes you don't mind getting sandy. Play is barefoot or in socks, and the sand brushes off easily — but a change of clothes is never a bad idea for enthusiastic diggers.
What if my child has allergies?
Tell our team when you arrive, or add a note to your party booking, and we'll do everything we can to accommodate. For parties we can adjust the food entirely, including going nut-free for the whole event.
